Circles of Life
Circles of Life is a collaborative projection-mapped installation exploring cycles of growth, decay, and transformation through the intersection of natural materials and digital visuals. Created with Olive Stewart, the project draws inspiration from Andy Goldsworthy’s ephemeral land art, which emphasizes impermanence and process.
Natural materials such as leaves, rocks, and branches were gathered and arranged as physical forms for projection. Using MadMapper and an Optoma projector, we animated cycles of light and motion across the objects, combining both 2D and 3D mapping techniques to respond to their organic shapes.
By layering digital imagery onto ephemeral materials, Circles of Life highlights the tension between the temporary and the constructed. The installation invites viewers to reflect on how natural processes can be reinterpreted through technology while still retaining a sense of fragility and change.
