Confined Aquarium Showcased
This immersive installation reimagines everyday spaces as reflective underwater environments using personal aquarium footage, projection mapping, and layered physical elements. Originally created on a small scale in my bathroom, the project was expanded into a full installation for the ITP/IMA 2025 Spring Show. The space featured handmade props, including white curtains, hanging styrofoam spheres, a reworked clock, and sculptural jellyfish, with each surface projection-mapped to create an enveloping environment.
Footage from aquariums, candid recordings, and motion graphics drifted across layered planes, merging memory, light, and space. The custom MIDI controller, built for Ephemerality, was repurposed to manipulate jellyfish visuals in real-time, adjusting speed, color, and patterns using MadMapper. Experienced by 400+ visitors, the piece invited curiosity and interaction, with children finding it playful and engaging, while others described it as calming and meditative.
